WPDer: “GT” Reflection

“…gave me the ability to share things… vent and allowed me to be vulnerable in order to grow.”

GT
“GT,” Omega Group.
Educator and Coach.
Married.

WPD has been a wonderful experience these past few years. The group allowed me to get closer with a group of boys and open up to things when I did not want to. I used to be the type of person who bottled things up inside and would build a wall to not let anyone into what was going on in my life. However, WPD gave me the ability to share things that were going on with me and be willing to be vulnerable.

WPD has helped me check on myself and dip into the reality that there were things in my life that I needed to fix, instead of giving into the lie that I was okay. This group helped me see that there were guys who care for me and want to see me grow, and that I want to see these guys grow as well while we are all walked through life together. I believe WPD helped me truly work on developing every area of my life and building myself as a whole, rather than just certain parts. This group was not just a Bible Study.

Although Bible Studies are good, they can be monotonous and can only focus on one aspect, but WPD is a group that focuses and tackles everything, while looking through a Christian viewpoint. WPD has meant a lot to me in the fact that I was able to grow in all aspects of my life. Dr. McNeal was willing to dig things out of me even when I maybe did not want to share, and that gave me the ability to vent and allowed me to be vulnerable in order to grow. I am thankful for Dr. McNeal for working on me these past three years and for the guys I was in WPD with. Every one of them poured into me and helping me grow in all areas of my life. WPD was not just a group of guys that met on Tuesday nights, but a group of guys who have been trained in the wisdom of Dr. McNeal. The group had been tackling life together for 3-4 years.

This group is a group of people I know I can count on for lasting friendship. Friendship that will last for years. We can always count on each other as life goes on and can reach out to each other to get together and just talk. I thank each and every one of these men in my life and look forward to conquering life knowing these guys have my back.

With all sincere honor and thankfulness,

Tyler Mark “GT” Goatley. May 2021 and 2022 Graduate. High School Teacher and Coach.
